Built multiple startups early in my career. Some failed, some worked, and a few I successfully exited.

Hello, I'm Ovi Shekh. I am an Indie App Developer and AI Enthusiast.

I first learned about the startup world from a senior at my school, Nahid, in 2018. He was trying to build a community-based app for the school so teachers, students, administrators, and staff could easily communicate with each other. Given my reputation as a programmer, Nahid convinced me to work as a developer on his project.

From him, I learned a lot about startup culture, and he told me stories about Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, which fascinated me and fueled my desire to start something of my own.

During the time of Covid, my classmate Reduanul Ryad and I, along with a few other young people who lost their jobs due to the pandemic, initiated a service to provide 30-minute delivery of groceries and essential items like medicine and blood platelets.

It was a good initiative, but we weren't making any profits, and some of us had other priorities, making it unsustainable in its original form. We wound down the operations — but the story didn't end there. A Bangladesh-based e-commerce company saw the value in what we had built and wanted to acquire GetGrocery. In mid-2023, we closed the deal and sold the company to them. It was my first exit, and it taught me everything about what it really means to build something valuable enough for someone else to want.

Upon entering university, I chose to study Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), and my understanding of the world expanded. One of my friends, Abir Ahmed Himel, who is a zoology student, insisted I enter the AI industry because he showed me a few metrics indicating that the cost of protein folding had dropped drastically due to AI.

There is a chance we can provide personalized healthcare to millions of people with AI. We went through the ideation stage and built a prototype, hoping Startup Bangladesh would help us with regulations and funding. However, it didn't go as planned, and without the necessary regulations, it was impossible to run it. Nevertheless, we gained the skill to build custom GPT models.

On March 10, 2024, we launched Arklab. We decided to provide AI services to businesses since I have a few connections in the corporate world, so we can gather enough funds to fulfill our vision of providing universal basic healthcare to everyone through Arklab.

Within Arklab, we wanted to experiment with building a product. My professor, Marzia Ma'am, pointed out a real academic pain point: researchers needed a better tool to assist with literature reviews. That insight became the seed of Wisdomic AI — an AI-powered research assistant built to help academics navigate and synthesize scholarly literature at scale.

What followed exceeded every expectation. We won the National AI Olympiad 2025 and the Intra-University Agentic AI Competition. We received grants from government bodies including iDEA and BIG. The product gained serious traction, and acquisition interest followed — over 50 acquisition offers came in. After careful consideration, in November 2025, we sold Wisdomic AI to a US-based company, marking my second successful exit in just ten months.

    So, my journey continues.

    Keep building,
